What is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy?

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a healing modality that combines the therapeutic effects of low-dose ketamine with structured psychotherapy. It is designed to support people navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, or a sense of being “stuck” in their healing process.

Unlike medication-only approaches, KAP uses ketamine as a tool for deep psychological insight, emotional processing, and nervous system regulation—not as a stand-alone solution. When paired with the right therapeutic container, ketamine can open a window to healing that traditional talk therapy alone may not reach.

My Role as Your KAP Therapist

At Little Tree Counseling, I provide trauma-informed therapeutic support throughout your KAP journey. This includes:

  • Preparation sessions: Setting intentions, building safety, learning how to navigate expanded states of consciousness

  • Therapeutic presence during ketamine sessions: Supporting you through your dosing experience, virtually or in person depending on the protocol

  • Integration sessions: Helping you process insights, emotions, and shifts after ketamine sessions so you can apply them meaningfully in your life

I am not a prescriber, but I collaborate closely with Journey Clinical, a trusted medical provider that evaluates clients, prescribes ketamine when appropriate, and oversees the medical aspects of care.

Who is KAP For?

KAP may be appropriate for individuals experiencing:

  • Depression, including treatment-resistant depression

  • Generalized anxiety

  • PTSD or unresolved trauma

  • Chronic stress or emotional exhaustion

  • Grief, identity transitions, or existential concerns

  • A desire for inner connection, perspective, or personal growth

KAP can be particularly effective for people who feel like they’ve hit a wall in therapy and are ready to explore new depths—with structure, safety, and support.

The Process

  1. Free Consultation
We start with a brief consult to determine if KAP may be a good fit for your needs and goals.

  2. Medical Intake with Journey Clinical
If you decide to move forward, I’ll refer you to Journey Clinical, who will conduct a full medical assessment. If you’re approved, they’ll prescribe ketamine lozenges and provide detailed instructions for at-home use.

  3. Therapeutic Preparation
We’ll meet for 1–2 sessions to clarify your intentions, discuss what to expect, and prepare your inner and outer environment for the experience.

  4. Dosing Sessions
You’ll take your ketamine dose (sublingual lozenge) while I hold space for your process, either in person or virtually. Sessions are 90–120 minutes.

  5. Integration Support
After each dosing session, we’ll meet for integration—processing what came up, identifying patterns, and translating insights into your daily life.

What Makes My Approach Different

  • Trauma-Informed & Consent-Based
I center your autonomy, safety, and pacing every step of the way. You are never rushed or pushed.

  • Holistic & Relational
KAP is more than a protocol—it’s a relationship. I attend not only to your symptoms, but to your story, your body, and your unique path.

  • Realistic & Respectful
KAP is not a miracle cure. It can open doors, but healing still takes work. I support you in doing that work with compassion and skill.

Is This Right for Me?

KAP is not for everyone, and that’s okay. In our initial consultation, we’ll explore whether it’s aligned with your current needs, history, and readiness. If it’s not the right time or fit, I’ll help you consider other options that might serve you better.
